- Objective tinnitus
 This type of tinnitus is observed in less than 5% of cases and in this kind, in addition to the patient, the doctor can also hear the tinnitus. This rare type of disease is usually due to vascular problems, muscle contractions, or bone conduction loss in the middle ear. Some people report that their tinnitus is consistent with the heartbeat and is heard continuously as a tinnitus. In these cases, special treatments that may involve surgery are recommended to the patient.
- Subjective tinnitus
 Subjective tinnitus is the most common type of tinnitus and occurs in almost 95% of cases in which the only person can hear the sound of tinnitus. Usually, all external, middle, and internal ear problems can cause this type of tinnitus. This type of tinnitus occurs in 80% of people with a sensory-neural hearing loss (SNHL) that damage the auditory nerve or the cochlear cells.
